Canadian Thanksgiving has past and we are officially in the holiday season. Bring on warm sweaters, hot drinks, and cozy evenings! I’m currently having fun brainstorming modern diy holiday decor ideas.
Below are my favourite Fall things from this October!
1. Vegan Turmeric Latte
At the beginning of October, I read an article about feeding your brain the nutrition it needs. Turmeric was high on the list of brain-superfoods! I decided to give making a Vegan Turmeric Latte, to my surprise I loved it! The color is also so beautiful!
The below Turmeric Latte is adapted from this recipe shared by BBC Good Foods.
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp maple syrup (or sweetener of choice)
Place all ingredients in a small pot over medium heat and whisk constantly. When hot, pour into a mug and serve with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
2. The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin is a book I’d been hearing about for years and meaning to read. The wait on my library hold finally ended this October and it was very much worth the wait! This is a book full of practical ideas to cultivate being more present during your days, for as Rubin states. “The days are long, but the years are short”.
3. Never Too Small Channel on YouTube
Though I’m sure many of these are staged homes, I’ve found the Never Too Small YouTube channel calming and inspiring to watch. They always ignite a fire in me to clean or declutter and minimize our things. I’ve gotten multiple ideas of organizing solutions for my own small, 500 square foot apartment.
