Craft a modern mirror with Dollar Tree finds and your Cricut.
Can you believe I made this mirror for just three dollars using a couple items from Dollar Tree and my trusty Cricut machine?!
Here’s the backstory: I live just minutes away from a Dollar Tree, and whenever I need craft supplies, I always check there first before heading across town to Michaels. Don’t get me wrong, I love Michaels and their quality products, but Dollar Tree’s prices are unbeatable.
So, before Christmas, I grabbed a few items from Dollar Tree that I thought could be used as bases for Cricut designs: some ceramic ornaments and a small round mirror. As I didn’t have a specific plan for them, they ended up sitting unused in my craft drawer for months. As someone with limited space and only a dresser for craft storage, clutter drives me a bit crazy and I quickly regretted that impulse purchase!
Then, just last week, I spotted some wooden 12-inch circles at Dollar Tree. Such a good find but I hesitated, debating whether to buy yet another item that might end up unused. Ultimately, I left it on the shelf.
But this week, inspiration struck! I realized I could use that wooden circle to create a patterned frame for the mirror. I ran back to Dollar Tree and grabbed the wood circle. I made sure to make the mirror the same day so that I wouldn’t have another unfinished project. I’m so happy I did as it turned out so beautifully.
The mirror will cost you more than $3 if you need to purchase the other materials that I already had on hand. However, it’ll definitely stay under $10 if you are able to purchase everything from Dollar Tree.
Read on to find out exactly how I made this DIY mirror, step-by-step.

Assembling Your DIY Mirror:
Start by cutting out your design using removable vinyl or drawer liner. Personally, I opt for drawer liner for stencils to save on vinyl costs.
Center the design on your wooden circle.
Using a craft sponge, gently dab acrylic paint onto the wooden areas. In hindsight, I’d either stain the wooden circle a dark wood before painting or use a dark paint color. While the white against the light wood does look lovely, depending on the sunlight, sometimes the design gets washed out. Increasing the contrast would help.
Ensure to completely cover the design with paint, including the sides of the circle, and allow it to dry.
Once dry, use a hot glue gun to affix the mirror to the center of the frame. Remove any foam protectors on the back of the mirror before gluing it down.
Finally, thread a rope through the holes in the front of the frame and tie it at the back. Hang up your new wall decor and enjoy!
