When I was studying design at college, I consumed an endless stream of coffee (I can’t count how many all-nighters I pulled perfecting different projects). Just two years later, I’m now finding I can’t handle the same amount of coffee, nor do I want to! When needing a caffeine fix now, I often reach for my matcha powder. Matcha doesn’t give me any of the weird side effects that coffee does (anyone else relate to unnecessary anxiety and/or shaking?).
Whenever I use matcha powder I am inspired by its rich green pigment and always think to myself how it would work beautifully in a styled shoot or editorial spread.
I finally got out my camera to make that picture in my head a reality. Today I’m sharing a fancy version of this iced matcha latte where I go a little extra on the details. 🙂
Ingredients you’ll need:
1 TSP MATCHA POWDER
1 CUP MILK OR MILK SUBSTITUTE (I USED SOY)
1/4 CUP MILK FOR FROTHING
OPTIONAL: SWEETENER OF CHOICE
Scoop 1 tsp of matcha powder into a cup. Add a small amount of water to the matcha and mix into a smooth paste. By creating this paste it eliminates having clumps of matcha in your latte.
If desired, add your choice of sweetener and mix well. Add the cup of milk and stir. Top with ice.
If you’re all about making everyday moments special, below are some ideas to fancy up this latte!
FROTHED MILK
Froth the 1/4 cup milk to pour to top.
BUTTERFLY STENCIL
I lastly used a stencil cut on my Cricut machine to create the butterfly design.
