I took these photos of my dining room this Fall (before I has created Gilded Stork!), I thought I would share them here now as the DIY chandelier is suitable for any occasion! The chandelier can be adapted and made as decor for a wedding, party, or another holiday. There are so many options! Swap out the colours, or adjust the scale and shape.
The chandelier was made with supplies you most likely have in your craft drawer! Yarn, kraft paper, glue, wooden skewers, and paint. When I was ready to switch up my dining area, there was no pressure to store it away and I could easily toss this inexpensive decoration into the trash.
I used this tutorial to make the paper palm fronds. I took mine a step further by giving some of the palm fronds a light layer of gold paint and others a layer of white paint mixed with flour to add an organic, more natural, texture.
I tied layers of yarn around wooden skewers and twisted them to appear as if they are looping. Fishing line was used to hang the chandelier from the ceiling. After building the yarn base, I used a hot glue gun to adhere the paper palm fronds.
