I don’t know if there is anything more relaxing than spending an evening on my couch stitching together these DIY felt monogram ornaments.
These charming handmade felt monogram ornaments are perfect for use as a DIY custom gift topper (that also works as a gift tag!). The receiver will happily hang this on their Christmas tree for years to come!
Feeling ambitious? Make enough to spell out a festive saying such as “Fa la la la la” or “Happy Holidays” and string them together to create a stunning felt holiday garland!

How to Make DIY Felt Monogram Ornaments
To begin, download the free SVG design or printable PDF design from my template library. Cut out the SVG design with your Cricut or Silhouette machine. For those cutting out the template by hand, use a hole punch to make the template for the dot design.
Next, Place your template on some felt and use a pen to trace. Cut two letters for each ornament.
Then, decorate your felt letters with embroidery, beads, paint, glitter, or with whatever else you like! I chose to stitch on sequins using a French knot stitch technique. You can find a helpful tutorial here on how to make French knots.
Thirdly, use a blanket stitch (find a video tutorial here for how to blanket stitch) to sew together your two felt letters, creating a front and back. Leave a small opening to be able to stuff the monogram ornament.
Lastly, fill your ornament with stuffing, stitch up the opening, and sew on a ribbon for hanging. The ribbon I used is from The Maple Den, my favorite ribbon to embellish crafts with!
Every day this week on the blog will be an easy DIY project for the holidays with fun typography – using free Google fonts that are perfect for the holidays!
