It truly is so incredible what you can make with a cutting machine (or by hand if you have the patience!)
This free SVG template creates this intricately folded paper star. Use this star as a Christmas tree ornament, as a gift topper (replacing the classic bow), or make multiple stars and string them on a garland.

You will need to cut out the pattern six times to make the final star. I chose to cut out the star from a metallic cardstock.
For easier folding of your star, use a bone folder or craft knife to lightly score the cut-out pattern. The above black lines pattern where to score on the front side (left image) and where to score on the opposite side (right image).
Once you have scored your shape, use the score lines to cleanly fold your shape.
Repeat this process for all six of your cut shapes.
The next step is putting the star together. I explored using glue first, however, found that for myself stitching the star together works best.
Stack two of your cut out folded shapes together with the back to back, so that both patterned sides of your cardstock is facing outwards. Above black lines pattern where to stitch the two pieces together.
Repeat this process three times.
Place all three of your folded and stitched cardstock elements together in a star shape.
Gather all the stitched end tails together in your hand and tie in a knot, bringing the corners together securely. Then cut any access thread off.
Use a hot glue gun to glue the end pieces together along the short folded edges.
Continue gluing each end until you have a complete star.
